Lawson is 30 minutes north of Kansas City, and can be easily found by taking I-35 north to 69 Highway in Liberty, then follow 69 Hwy to D Highway (Lawson); turn right onto D Highway and go to Pennsylvania (Main Street). Lawson is a safe place to live and raise your family. You will find that people are friendly and care about each other. There are wonderful churches with welcoming doors here in the community.
The small town atmosphere is like no other. Lawson offers nice eating establishments and a variety of businesses to accommodate your needs including a drug store with an old fashioned soda fountain! The Cardinal complex has 5 baseball fields and a paved walking trail, The City Park has a band stand, play equipment & covered pavilions which are great for picnics. There is a Community Swimming Pool, City Lake with walking trail and fishing, a Farmer’s Market & a Public Library. Watkins Woolen Mill State Park & Historic Site offers the best of both worlds with hiking, horseback riding trails, biking, camping, swimming and the only 1800 era woolen factory.
There is an 18 hole golf course for your enjoyment with a putting green, pull carts, driving range and a nice new restaurant on site for your convenience. Lawson High School received National Blue Ribbon honor in 2012 by the US Dept. of Education. This National Award honors schools whose students achieve at high levels or have made significant progress to close gaps in achievement. The Seller’s Performing Arts Center is one of the nicest in the area. The Lawson Summer Picnic consist of carnival rides, games, bingo, washer tournaments, crafts, live entertainment, and a variety of different food vendors all located at the city park across from Lawson City Hall.
