KC is Home: Kansas City Restaurant Week Guide

With a record 193 participating restaurants in this year’s Kansas City Restaurant Week, it’s hard to choose where to go! Fortunately, the restaurants participating in 2018 KC Restaurant Week span the entire metro area, so chances are there’s one within minutes of your front door. But Restaurant Week is also the perfect time to get out and try something new, too!

KC is Home: School of Sock

If you’ve seen some crazy awesome sock designs out there, you probably have School of Sock (formerly known as Sock 101) to thank. So how did this Lee’s Summit-based company get off the ground and make national waves? We sat down with the founders — Kelly Yarborough, Dave Feyerabend, Jason Grill and Lea Bailes — to learn more.

KC is Home, Episode 4: Ampersand Design Studio

In the fourth episode of our KC is Home series, we sit down with Carrie Kiefer and Morgan Georgie, the founders and designers of Ampersand Design Studio. After meeting at the University of Kansas and working together at Hallmark Cards, Carrie and Morgan started Ampersand to create patterns and artwork for modern, everyday living.

KC is Home, Episode 3: KidsTLC

In our third episode of our KC is Home video series, we visit KidsTLC, an Olathe-based organization dedicated to helping children and teens in crisis. KidsTLC provides children with a continuum of care through innovative and successful psychiatric treatment, outreach to homeless teens, outpatient behavioral health, autism, ADACEA services and parent support programs.

KC is Home, Episode 2: Sylas and Maddy’s

In the second episode of our new KC is Home video series, we taste the sweet treats over at Sylas and Maddy’s in Olathe. When owner Jim England and his family first moved to the Kansas City area in ‘90s, they noticed a distinct lack of great, homemade ice cream.

KC is Home, Episode 1: Made in KC

Introducing our newest video series, KC is Home! In this series, we celebrate the city we call home by shining a light on local organizations that also strive to reward lives. We kicked off the series by highlighting Made in KC, a business founded with the goal of connecting suburban consumers with local designers, artisans and makers.
